@iloveanchorage holiday gift guide, part 4

iloveanchorage, part 4

Yesterday’s gift picks for my stint as the @iloveanchorage Instagram host focused, fittingly, on local love! Each item represents our city or state in a unique way and lets your giftee wear their Alaska-shaped heart on their sleeve, head or even hang it on their wall.

Here’s Thursday’s guide to shopping for gifts that embody our local love:

Gift No. 1: My first gift pick to promote local love is the line of chunky, colorful hats handmade ($40) in Alaska by Amanda Harrington found at Her Tern Boutique (811 W. Eighth Ave.). In particular, this Big Dipper design is just as cute as the buttons used to make it!

Gift No. 2: Start your little Sourdough off loving all things local with this It’s Sew You AK road sign onesie ($29.98) at Metro Cooks (570 E. Benson Blvd., No. 16), which is my number two local love gift pick.

Gift No. 3: Give your Alaska advocate the perfect piece of art with my number three local love gift pick: The Alaska Poster ($20) by artist Aaron Draplin at Dos Manos Gallery (1317 W. Northern Lights Blvd.), which reminds us of so many reasons we love our state (even the ones that are tougher to take – cabin fever, anyone?).

Gift No. 4: The coordinate bracelet ($152) in silver, gold or rose gold at Boutique Blush (720 D Street, Unit C) is my number four local love gift. The bracelets are each engraved with the geographical coordinates of our favorite city for a more sophisticated way to show off how much we adore.

Gift No. 5: If your Alaska lover is also master of the grill, give them another reason to flip with local love gift pick number five: This state-sportin’ spatula ($34.50) at Metro Cooks (570 E. Benson Blvd., No. 16).

Gift No. 6: It’s only fitting that I wrap up my local love gift picks with Alaska Love Clothing gear (T-shirt shown here is $22, hoodies are $52) at Dos Manos Gallery (1317 W. Northern Lights Blvd.). It’s the quintessential clothing for Alaska lovers no matter where they live.
